STATE CAPITAL Book Companion
It is really never too early to start learning about geography, the 50 states and even state capitals.
For younger children, you can use highlighter to write the words and they can trace and color pictures. For older children, this can be an independent activity.
I have found this book to have the perfect amount of information about states and capitals for primary children. It is not overwhelming, and the adorable pictures are very engaging.
On this activity, children record the basic information about each state and draw pictures to go with it. I love that they color the state on the larger United States so they have an idea of where it is.
You can use one or both of these printable activities for each state. With my own children, we have been working our way through each state. We usually study two states each week.
How cute are these state flip books?
These are so easy to assemble and print on a single page of paper.
They can draw and write simple facts about each state.
The same printable can be used for all 50 states too.
Usborne Books and More also has these adorable state/capital wraps.
These are perfect for children who learn best kinesthetically, and they simply wrap and match the states to their capitals.
We love these to take in the car to appointments, lessons and even when they are waiting for dinner I’ll have them do a wrap.
