WHY THIS CURRICULUM IS SO SUCCESSFUL FOR IMPLEMENTING DISTANCE LEARNING IN KINDERGARTEN
The key to a successful distance learning curriculum is consistency and simplicity. Parents are busy and stressed right now, and they simply cannot sit down every day and teach their child a new lesson. With this curriculum, they do not have to!
I designed every single day to promote confidence and fluency with the exact standards we are learning each month. The standards stay the same for at least a week in a row (sometimes longer), so students recognize the format and know exactly what is expected.
“This resource helped our district quickly and effectively come up with a distance learning packet for our students, when we were given little time to do so...I am extremely happy with this resource and how it helped us! Thank you for all of the work that you have put into helping other teachers!”
“This is an amazing packet. I love that I can implement it right away with my kindergartner at home and have no extra prep while caring for two other littles. From a teacher stand point, I love that it covers multiple subjects and reviews concepts we’ve learned throughout the year. Thank you!”

TEACHERS, STUDENTS AND PARENTS ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE MONTHLY PRINT AND TEACH PACKS!
How does this curriculum work? Let me walk you through it!
Children need to practice a skill multiple times over many days to reach mastery and fluency. Parents may need to assist their child with a specific skill, and then for the next 5-10 consecutive days students continue to practice this exact same skill.
Parents absolutely love how easy this curriculum is to implement.
Each day, students have 4 pages - print front to back, and these packs only take two pages of paper each day to cover all the standards!
EACH DAY, THESE FOUR PAGES ARE INCLUDED:
MY TASKS TODAY - this gives parents and students a visual overview of the three assignments they must do each day - language arts, math and reading journal.
Children absolutely love that they get to color the star next to each assignment they compete each day. Parents love that the day is already outlined for them.
Three blank boxes are also included at the bottom, and additional activities can be added here if you choose. Task cards that include both school activities and household activities/chores can be added.
This makes is so simple and easy to differentiate for each individual child and what they may need additional help with.
I am homeschooling my third daughter this year for kindergarten, and before she can have screen time each day, she must complete her tasks page. I even add her chores here on this page. I don’t have to nag and she knows exactly what she must do each day. We love this consistency and routine. She can open her schoolwork binder and get right to work - often times without me!
2. LANGUAGE ARTS - each day students complete a language arts activity page. We start the year very basic, learning capital and lowercase letters, handwriting, letter sounds, syllables and rhyming.
As the weeks progress, so do the skills! We move into learning segmenting and blending first, middle and last sounds in CVC words, sight words and reading and writing complete sentences by spring.
The format stays the same for at least a week in a row, and only the content changes. We focus on handwriting, phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, writing and language skills.
I am very specific about the skills I choose for each month for students to work on. The goal is for them to master the standards, so I present concepts in a targeted, systematic approach. The standards increase in difficulty each month.
This is the exact same approach I use for math as well.
3. MATH - every day, students complete one math page. Similar to language arts, we start the year very basic and practice numeral recognition, writing numbers, 1:1 correspondence and counting, shapes and patterns.
We move through the standards as the year progresses, and their math skills develop quickly. They master the standards because they practice them consistently throughout the entire year.
4. READING JOURNAL - each day, students are expected to read or be read to for 20 minutes. They can then fill out their daily journal. This can be optional if you wish.
The format stays the same for a month or two and then changes. Children practice a variety of skills in these daily journals.
At the beginning of the school year, children are practicing writing their name, phone number and address. They draw and color a picture each day about the book the read and something they did that was helpful that day.
In the middle of the school year, along with reflecting on their book each day, students practice different emotion words and they can draw or write about how they feel each day.
By the end of the school year, students can write and draw about the characters, setting and plot in their book.
These daily journals are completely optional and can be used as you see fit.
A PEEK AT SEPTEMBER
Here are a few photos from September’s Learn at home pack to give you an idea of what each day looks like.
The daily task page shows students exactly what their assignments are for the day. Students complete their math, language arts and reading journal and then color their stars.
The bottom three boxes are optional and can be left up to the teacher or parent.
To help you stay organized, I include mini task cards that coordinate with my monthly no prep packs. I cut out the activity pages I want my daughter to complete each day and glue them on her task page.
This allows me to give her additional activities that target the skills we are working on. This apple alphabet page is from my September No Prep Pack.
This is what the coordinating task cards look like and they are included in every month’s pack!
I also include additional task cards for chores at home and school activities such as reading for twenty minutes, writing and projects.
HOW TO ASSEMBLE
This is truly a print and teach learning packet! That means there is virtually no prep for you. These pictures are of me assembling my summer learn at home packet.

I recently discovered the ProClick system and it is perfect for my distance learning packs. You can open the spirals and add the additional activities wherever you need.
The spirals come in different sizes, but for these packs I bought the ones that hold 85 pages HERE
If you’re making these for students - for distance learning or in the classroom- you could assemble the packs for the month and simply send them home with students!
The spirals can be reused for every single month. I will say that each pack will probably take about ten minutes or so to punch and assemble, so you may want to ask a parent or volunteer for help each month.
I have also used a small binder for these and they do the trick as well. Or simply staple each month… whatever works for you!
