I absolutely love calendar time and morning meeting! It is the perfect way to start your day on the right foot with students.
We sing along to songs, practice standards based skills, check in to see how everyone is feeling, chart who has a birthday and who lost a tooth, graph the weather, count how many days we have been in school… plus so much more!
I use both a digital calendar with morning meeting slides plus a calendar notebook.

It is incredible to watch how much they grow using this repetitive format.
They love watching their weather graph and calendar fill in throughout the month.
Each day, students fill out the activity page shown below.
They can use a pencil or slip this page into a page protector and they can use a dry/erase marker.
At first, students will need scaffolding and support. After about a month, watch how students take pride in becoming independent with completing their daily calendar. They learn so much through this one daily worksheet!
